Sabal Nepal, a non-profitable social development organization of Nepal. Currently, Sabal Nepal is implementing the Welthungerhilfe(WHH) supported project titled “Strengthening municipal-wide WASH governance for social change in Siraha District-NPL 1060” &“Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centers for child friendly school initiatives in Saptari, NPL 1062 Project ” in Province No. 2, we invite applications from interested and qualified Nepali citizens for the following position.


1.    Position: Project Coordinator (Technical) -1 No. (For NPL 1062-ECD Project, Saptari)

Location (base): Rupani Rural municipality, Saptari

Expected joining date: As soon as possible

Contract type: Fixed Term Contract till 30 June 2021

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree Civil engineering from a recognized university is required

  • PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Architecture, or other related discipline from a recognized university. Full membership of a major professional body; namely civil engineering. If private, proof. At least 3 years of demonstrated work experience with an I/NGO in Early child Development center (ECD) construction and management. In addition, the incumbent is required to have one years of management experience in civil engineering projects. Well versed with computer aided design software (MS offices, AutoCAD, ETABS, STAAD Pro etc.) Outstanding communications and networking skills. Fluent English and Nepali in speaking, reading, and writing are required. Local language proficiency (Bajika, Bhojpuri, Maithili) will be a plus Hold 2-wheeler valid license. Willing to adopt, work and travel in the terai community.

  • Direct construction, operations, and maintenance activities at project site.

  • Direct or participate in surveying to lay out installations and establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide construction.

  • Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.

  • Provide technical support to carry out the capacity development and community engagement activities with/for partners, communities and local stakeholders that are directly linked with project activities

  • Must have expert knowledge of infrastructure rules and regulations in Nepal, building designs and construction practices and codes as well as a comprehensive knowledge of GoN building construction codes/norms specialization in Early child Development (ECD) and relevant environmental requirements standards.

  • Must have extensive knowledge of engineering principles, seismic hazards, river and water basins and flooding, rainfall, seasonal weather, and atmospheric variations, etc.

  • Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards.

  • Prepare the Daily Project Report and Detailed Project Report (DPR) of all planning, progress and ongoing construction works in coordination with team members.

  • To submit the technical progress report on every activity’s completion i.e. before the running bill being passed for payment.

  • Knowledge of gender in development principles and demonstrated experience in their application.

  • Ability to serve as a proactive, multi-activity liaison to optimize synergies and coordination among programs.

  • Strong leadership experience in budget management (including project budgets), financial planning and analysis.

  • As budget holder, ensure budget is appropriately phased and appropriately coded.

  • Take lead in cash forecasting of the project and keep senior management up to date on same.

  • Ensures that budgets are spent according to forecast, limiting to its maximum rephasing and budget amendments

  • Provide a narrative analysis of the monthly management accounts

  • Coordinate with support department (M&E, compliance, finance, logistics and Human resource) to ensure regular program implementation, quality assurance and compliance

  • Prepare different level reports in coordination with subordinates, experts, related stakeholders independently.

  • Holds self-accountable for making decisions, managing resources efficiently, achieving and role modelling organizational values

  • To communicate and orient the community about the objectives of project and organization.

  • To conduct public audit, group discussion, orientation of the activities before, during and at the end of the project.

  • Oversees identification of suitable and reliable suppliers, vendors, providers and contractors of goods and services in support of programme implementation in accordance with organization procurement guidelines.
